Pass Plus is a practical training course that takes at least 6 hours and is for drivers to improve their skills and drive more safely.
It can be taken at any time although it should be most useful to new drivers in the year after passing their test.
You’ll need a Pass Plus registered approved driving instructor (ADI) to teach you.
Once you’ve completed Pass Plus you may be able to get a car insurance discount. You’ll need your Pass Plus certificate.
The amount of discount depends on the insurance company
If 1 of our cars is needed for the actual driving test there is a extra charge of £10 to cover the insurance needed..
What does it mean when we say manual transmission or automatic transmission?
MANUAL TRANSMISSION = Vehicles with a numbered gearstick and pedal clutch which you would use to control the speed and momentum of the car.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION =Vehicles with no clutch or gears to change by yourself during driving, as the car will automatically change it for you whilst detecting your acceleration.
Which should I choose? Manual or Automatic?
This is solely down to personal choice and ability. Below, is a comparison table to help you decide the best option for you:
MANUAL |
AUTOMATIC |
Passing your manual vehicle driving test will mean you are eligible to drive both manual and automatic cars, therefore allowing flexibility in car choice. |
Passing your automatic driving test would mean you are eligible to drive ONLY automatic cars. |
Cars with manual transmission tend to be cheaper to purchase |
The absence of a gear stick and a clutch means you can fully focus on learning to drive, navigate and maneuver, without difficulty. |
Manual cars may offer a higher degree of control on icy/slippery roads. |
May also be easier for those who struggle with manual transmission, people learning at an older age and people with disabilities |
Some drivers prefer having the ‘full control’ of gear changes |
Easierlearning, as you don’t need to worry about changing gears. The learning process is generally quicker so you could potentially be ‘driving test-ready’ sooner than learning on manual. |
Automatic cars can be better suited to inner-city or town driving with the advantage of feeling less tired afterwards. |

REFRESHER COURSES
Do you ever feel tense or intimidated when driving?
Whether it’s commuting, popping to the shops, or taking the kids out, driving is an essential part of personal, family and work life for millions of us. And that’s part of the problem: with so many drivers on the road today, what should be a useful quick way from A to B, or a leisurely drive on quieter roads, can too often feel more like a stressful chore. Sometimes you completely forget the thrill you got when you passed your driving test!
How can a Refresher Driving Course help me save money and reduce my carbon footprint?
Driving safely and competently actually saves you money by avoiding wear and tear on the car which bad driving (e.g. clumsy gear changes, lack of knowledge of how the engine works) brings. You can “go greener” too – the more you learn about the mechanics, the more you can make informed decisions about what kind of vehicle and fuel you should use to help reduce those carbon emissions.
Other Benefits
Increased confidence – many accidents are caused by indecisiveness. Careful confidence means you can deal with other drivers on the road – and learn how to avoid the bad ones!
Increased enjoyment - secure behind the wheel, you can get back to the days when you actually got a buzz from driving.
Who are the courses designed for?
with this course we look after the anxious or nervous, people who have not driven for a long time, or international drivers who need to become accustomed to driving on the left – anyone in fact who knows that we all need a little help sometimes. All Refresher Courses are designed on an individual basis after assessment by a professional instructor.
